WORLD’S EPIDEMIC DISEASES Human history is undoubtedly stained with the blood of men, women and children killed in war and natural calamities, but disease is the world’s biggest killer. It does not discriminate race, gender or color, making it more deadly. It is noted that in at least every century, records of notorious disease outbreaks have claimed many lives around the continent. Currently, Corona Virus is the ‘trending’ disease which has so far claimed approximately 3800 lives. Before I write more about it, I’d like to take you through some previous epidemic diseases. In the 17 th century, malaria which is caused by a female anopheles’ mosquito, was a major disease in Europe, spreading to other continents within a period of two centuries. It claimed the lives of prominent people like Abraham Lincoln, George Washington and according to researchers, almost half of all humans who ever lived during that period died from malaria.
